Take to the water – take SportsDo

Most equipment aimed at sailors is for the boat, not the crew. SportsDo is different. It's my personal, real-time dashboard telling me stats like speed and distance and it runs on my phone. I don't need a fancy dedicated device and best of all, when I leave the boat, SportsDo leaves with me.

Always with you

I can use SportsDo when I'm on any boat. So even if I'm hitching a ride rather than crewing, I can still see how fast we're going and where we're heading. I can even use the voice announcement feature to keep me up-to-date with progress while I relax with some music.

Immediate review

SportsDo saves all the information as I go and creates charts and graphs from it too. The route traces are brilliant – I can see exactly the path I took, with colour-coded segments showing the different speeds I achieved.

Sharing with friends

I'm using SportsDo Live to transmit my current stats to the web so that anyone can follow my progress. I've got friends who look in to see where I am from their desks. I do the same when I'm back at base – there are SportsDo users pursuing all kinds of sports all over the world, and it's fascinating to drop in on them.

No more guess work

Comparing performance back at the marina is great fun too. Who made the best time today? Who held the best course? We don't have to rely on guesswork any more. SportsDo works all over the world. It uses the global GPS satellite service so you don't need a phone signal – unless you want to use SportsDo Live, or the Text Buddies features, which sends an automatic text message containing your key stats to your chosen recipients.

Rich journal

SportsDo also creates an incredibly rich journal of my adventures, without my lifting a finger. When I upload my saved information to the SportsDo portal, I can review all my activities in detail. Full maps show my exact routes. [Is this true for sea journeys?] Any pictures I've taken along the way are pinned to the exact map location where they were shot – try doing that by yourself! I can also add text to my log, making it the ideal place to organise all my sailing records.
